Service 01
See where each product or service actually earns its keep.
A margin structure that has never been broken down line by line often hides one or two figures worth a second look. This review brings them into view, using your own accounting records rather than sector averages.
Back to homeThe promise
By the end of this review, you will have a per-line margin table built from your own records, and a written note pointing to the two or three lines most worth discussing further. What you do with that is left entirely to you — the review offers clarity, not instructions.
The problem this addresses
Companies carrying more than a handful of product or service lines often work from a single blended margin figure — accurate on average, but capable of masking one line that quietly loses money while another compensates for it. Without a per-line view, this can continue for years without anyone noticing.
The approach
We work directly from your accounting records, separating direct costs, allocated overhead, and volume-sensitive costs for each line rather than applying a single company-wide assumption. This is slower than a benchmark comparison, but it reflects the specific mix of what you actually sell.
The margin ladder shown on the home page illustrates the general method — your review builds this ladder from your own numbers, not an illustrative example.
What the process looks like
After records are received, work proceeds over three weeks. There is periodic contact to clarify any ambiguous entries, but no requirement for ongoing meetings during this period — the bulk of the work happens on our side, against the documents you provide.
At the close, findings are presented together with the working model itself, so the reasoning behind every figure remains visible and checkable afterward.
The investment
- —Per-line margin table
- —Written note on lines worth discussing
- —The working model itself, provided to you
- —Three-week scope from receipt of records
On method and expectations
The review works from records as provided; its accuracy depends on how complete and current those records are. Where records are ambiguous, this is noted directly rather than resolved by assumption.
Assumption
Three weeks reflects typical scope for a company with up to roughly a dozen product or service lines. Larger or more fragmented ledgers may extend this timeframe, discussed before work begins.
If it does not fit your situation
There is no obligation to continue past an initial conversation. If, once your records and question are understood, this review is not the right instrument, that will be said plainly, and another service — or none at all — can be suggested instead.
Getting started
A short message describing your situation is enough to begin. From there, we will confirm what records are needed and answer any questions before scope or dates are agreed.
